Physical Education at GEMS CIK follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales, to provide all children with equal opportunities to be taught and learn from a broad and balanced range of sports activities.
Our curriculum covers such sports as football, basketball, tag rugby, hockey, rounders, cricket, tennis, gymnastics, dance, badminton and athletics, spread all over the year.
Swimming is taught independent of PE. Children are encouraged and motivated to develop positive attitudes towards participating in physical activities.
They are also empowered to acquire and develop skills, performing with increasing physical competence and confidence in a range of physical activities and contexts.
Children in Foundation stage and Years 1, 4, 5 and 6, have one hour of structured PE lessons per week, whereas Years 2 and 3 have two hours of PE per week.
